FAQ

A hackathon is an event, typically lasting a few days, where people like programmers, designers, and other professionals collaborate intensively to solve problems or create new projects. These events, a blend of "hack" and "marathon," foster rapid innovation and teamwork, often resulting in working prototypes or solutions presented to judges.
An AI hackathon is an intensive, collaborative event where programmers, data scientists, and AI enthusiasts gather to develop innovative AI-powered solutions within a set timeframe. Participants work in teams to tackle specific challenges, often involving training AI models or building applications, fostering creativity and rapid prototyping in the field of artificial intelligence.
Yes, registration to FuturEd AI and to the entire event is free. Participation is limited only to the teams that will be selected (see the quest “What is the selection process?” for more details).
Anyone over 18 years old can participate in FuturEd AI as long as they can form a team of 2 to 3 people. Registration is open to anyone with an interest in technology, problem-solving, and collaboration, regardless of their formal background or experience level. This often includes students, developers, designers, entrepreneurs and hobbyists. Some hackathons may have specific themes or requirements, but the core idea is to bring together diverse individuals to create innovative solutions.
Bring your laptop, charger, and any preferred coding peripherals like a mouse or keyboard. Pack a notebook and pen for brainstorming, and don't forget your team mates. Most importantly, bring an open mind and a collaborative spirit!
No, you absolutely do not need prior experience to participate in FuturEd AI. Hackathons are designed to be inclusive learning environments where people of all skill levels can collaborate, learn, and create. The focus is on the experience, teamwork, and learning process, rather than just the final product. So, even if you're a complete novice, you'll find welcoming and supportive mentors.
No, you cannot bring a pre-existing project to FuturEd AI. The idea is to start a project from scratch during the event itself. The purpose of the hackathon is to foster innovation and collaboration within a limited timeframe, but as a team you can brainstorm, refine or change the original proposed solution. Also using pre-existing projects fails to ensure a level playing field for all participants.
The selection process of FuturEd AI involves an initial application phase where applicants submit their skills and project ideas. A review committee will evaluate these applications based on criteria such as technical proficiency, relevance to the theme, creativity, and potential impact. The most promising applications, demonstrating a strong combination of these qualities, will be then invited to participate in the hackathon event.
Please see the Judging procedure section.
